IS MAGA A POLITICAL MOVEMENT, A SECT, A CULT OR MORE?

Considering how Trumpism has completely annihilated the former Republican Party to become entirely dedicated to the re-election of a single man, we can safely assume that MAGA is a political Party.

As to whether MAGA is also a sect or a cult, the best way to answer this question is to examine what MAGA has in common or differs from them.

Cult: from the French word “culte,” which means a particular form of worship and devotion to a person or a thing. Trumpism or MAGA is a sect or a cult if:

· It tends to possess a monopoly on truth.

Trump always tells the truth. He is the truth and the law; everything else is fake news.

· It has a charismatic leader, who is generally perceived to be mandated with a special mission.

Trump will drain the pond, make America great again, and save children from pedophile Democrats.

· It displays a zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader.

Trump’s followers’ slavish obedience and devotion are typical of members of fundamentalist organizations like the Taliban or Al-Qaeda.

· The leader does not allow questioning, doubt, or contradiction and punishes dissenters.

Fear by the GOP of not being re-elected by the base if not anointed by the Great One.

· The leader dictates how members should think, speak, and behave.

Trump has effectively drained the pond by replacing it with invertebrate bottom-feeder creatures who must ask permission to breathe.

· It has a polarized, us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict, dissension, and division in the broader society.

Today, America is divided and fractured politically and intellectually, as ever since the Civil War. And we all owe it to one man.

· The leader is not accountable to anybody and feels immune to any type of consequence.

Two impeachments without consequences have bolstered Trump’s belief that he could shoot someone in the middle of Times Square and get away with it. That does not bode well for assuming he would not attempt an armed insurrection against our democracy, since the Supreme Court has now given Trump the legalities to do whatever he wants.

· The leader promotes the belief that the ends justify whatever means are deemed necessary to secure power and control. This belief may result in members participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered against the law, reprehensible, or unethical before.

Unlike Midas, who was cursed with the ability to turn anything he touched into gold, Donald Trump is blessed with the ability to turn any good man he touches into a douchbag more than willing to do his bidding.

· The leader is preoccupied with making money and even resorts to lies and deceits to persuade people to subscribe to his cause.

After losing the 2020 Presidential election, Trump managed to swindle $495 million from suckers in a massive haul allegedly to be used to contest election frauds, but that ended up lining his personal coffer.
